I know quite a few fans wouldn’t agree with me but I really like Tuxedo Mask in Crystal. I think he quickly learns about the amount of power Usagi has and wants to see her at her greatest potential. It kinda goes with Crystal’s “girl power” theme.

It feels to me like Crystal is the ideal telling of the manga and that the characterization of the girls is at it’s most polished.

I’m honestly really pleased with the voices for the new dub.I feel like those who dislike the dub voices the most are fans of the old dub, which is understandable since that’s what the majority of the North American audience initially grew up on. But I personally will always have a bitter taste toward the older English dub (although on its own the acting was pretty good especially in the DiC version). I really appreciate the faithfulness to the original Japanese voices. Usagi and Serena were very different people, but now Usagi finally sounds like Usagi. I feel like Viz for the most part is doing a good job of keeping the original tone of the series and I love that.

When I was younger, I was a bit of an odd ball and as a result I didn’t have any friends. I was incredibly lonely and turned suicidal. Yet, I had caught interest in Sailor Moon and all of a sudden I felt as though I wasn’t alone anymore. If it wasn’t for Sailor Moon, I wouldn’t be here today. She literally saved my life.

I’ve always been under the impression that the senshi were meant to act in pairs, complimenting each other: Jupiter & Mercury (Brawn and Brains, also humidity is a great electric conductor), Venus & Mars (Love and Passion) Neptune & Uranus and so on. In that regards, Saturn and Pluto (being isolated from the main team) would stand alone, together (Time and Death) or in the case of Saturn with Moon/Chibi Moon (Life and Death). Moon and Earth are probably also meant to fit together…

I think the main reason why I can’t stand the Senshi/Shitennou thing in SMC isn’t just because I think it’s contrived to pair the spares. But also because Sailor Moon Crystal will be covering two arcs and going the pace of the manga. That’s 26 ep in all. There’s literally no time to establish anything. it feels like it’ll be forced rather than something to care about. Not to mention, I simply don’t think their personalities would even work well. Even in Parallel Moon, they don’t get together.

I really hope that if Sailor Moon Crystal does a reboot of the Black Moon Clan story arc, they don’t kill off the Four Ayakashi Sisters like they did in the manga. I actually really love their redemption story in the Sailor Moon R anime, it would be a shame to see them be killed off in the reboot.

Now that I’m an adult with my own children, I’m finding myself agreeing with the Outers’ decision to kill Hotaru in Sailor Moon S. It may have been “wrong” in the end storywise but if I were in the Outers place, I would’ve done the same things they did. I thought Usagi cared more about her moral stance than the lives of everyone on the planet. Every life is precious but no one life is more precious than the combined lives of everyone on the planet. Usagi doesn’t get to make that decision.

Since I watched the original anime when I was younger I didn’t realize how different it was from the manga. Crystal made me realize how different it was and has now inspired me to go read the manga to see how much I was missing.
